I’m a pro at relaxing and chilling and have devised the perfect way to unwind.
Sundays are the ultimate chill day. I wish I could say I go out for brunch with friends, but I’d be lying if I did! I love a good brunch, but I love just staying home on Sundays and relaxing with a good book, a cup of tea and some music.
I love a cup of Rooibos (Red Bush) tea to start off my day (I don’t drink caffeine) and on a chill day I can drink about 3 or 4 cups. It is a really refreshing tea. There are different varieties that you can purchase – my favourite is Red Seal Rooibos.
Another way I like to unwind is by reading a book from my book list. I have many, many books on my book list – these are ones I want to read for the first time, and also ones I would like to read again for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th + times. There’s something relaxing about cracking open a book – I prefer reading books to reading on my tablet – it’s something about the feel of the pages and the smell of a new book that makes the experience just so much better!
My favourite book, that I am re-reading at the moment, is Amber by Deborah Challinor. I love the series that she has written.
Music is my life, for real. Music is really something that keeps me going. I grew up very musical, and have played musical instruments since the tender age of 8. My favourite genres are definitely Rock and Roll and Classic Rock. Buddy Holly is my go to when I need a bit of positivity in my life. I remember I used to listen to his music on my parent’s old cassette tape back in the 90s. I’ve always thought that he died much too early….imagine how successful he would have been had he not died so young.
Another way I unwind is to ignore any work emails that may come in. It is difficult doing that because I always feel like I have an obligation to answer any emails that I may get over the weekend. But it is also really important to have a break and have time to yourself…so I just answer them on Monday morning when I get to work.
So there you have it – the way I unwind after a long week of work.
Sundays are a difficult day for me, because although I like my job, I always find it hard to go back! I have a severe case of Mondayitis every week.
