A Christmas in Hockwold and Norwich

My parents have come to visit me for Christmas and since some of my mum’s family came from Hockwold before they moved to NZ, we decided to spend Christmas in Hockwold.

Yesterday we went to Norwich for the day.  It is a cute town and I was surprised by the number of churches!

The Norwich Cathedral was really interesting and I enjoyed spending some time looking around it.

We spent a long time looking in the different rooms (I can’t remember the correct name for them at the moment) and I bought a few last minute presents in the Cathedral shop.

After the Cathedral we walked to the Castle.  Unfortunately it was closed since it was Christmas eve.  It does look very interesting and I will have to come back to Norwich one day.

Since it was still early, we wandered around the shops and lanes for a bit.  I  went into a Rock shop (like Rock’n’Roll and Heavy Metal kind of shop) and found a gorgeous 1950’s style skirt with cats on it.  Bonus – it has pockets!  I honestly don’t know why so many clothes for women don’t have pockets!

We had a really nice Christmas Eve.

It’s funny because whenever I am overseas for Christmas it just doesn’t feel quite right! I’m so used to a Summer Christmas – but change  and different experiences are good!

Meanwhile in Hockwold – it is a very small town/village.  We went for a really, really long walk today, but I will write about that in another blog post!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.  Now bring on New Years!

P.S. I’m going to add some more photos later – I’m having difficulty transferring them from my camera to my computer!
