A London Adventure

Yesterday I went to London for the day.

I had a lovely time.  Every time I go there I seem to discover new places.

I went to Spitalfields Market, which is about a 10 minute walk from Liverpool St.

I bought a Banksy print for my Opa’s 80th birthday.  I am lucky enough to be in NZ when it is his birthday.  So I am looking forward to giving it to him.

After going to the Market I walked along to Brick Lane.  I had been there before, but I had never walked to the Graffiti area.

I took heaps of photos of the graffiti.  I actually find graffiti like this is really artistic.  I especially like the Twiggy graffiti on the wall.

If you keep walking along the lane you will find a food market – it smelt delicious.  I didn’t get anything though because I had just had a sandwich from Sainsbury’s.  Imagine my disappointment.  The Haloumi and falafel wraps looked DELISH.

I discovered a Vintage Market in the basement of a building.  It is somewhere I will go back to when I settle in London in September.

After going to Brick Lane I started to walk back to Liverpool St.  On the way back I heard Classical Music playing.  There was a string quartet playing.  I sat there for about 20 minutes just listening them.  It was lovely.

I ended up catching the underground to Shepherds Bush and bought 2 travel bags from Longchamp at House of Fraser.  I really have an obsession with these bags.  They are so great for travelling and for everyday use.  I have a black one already and yesterday I bought red wine colour one.  LOVE IT!!

The weather was fantastic for being outdoors.  I felt absoloutely gross catching the tube to Highgate to go to dance.  Too hot.  If I was able to walk I would have done…but it was too far.

Boogaloo Bar in Highgate is a really nice place to go to for a Saturday afternoon drink.  They have Lindy Hop dancing there at 3pm every alternate Saturday.  It is one of my favourite places to go social dancing.  The dance floor is cramped and I always get stood on (my foot is pretty much purple) but it is so much fun!  I met some really nice people there.

So, all in all a very successful day.  It was the perfect last Saturday before heading home for a month.

I love exploring cities.  And London is the perfect place to do that.  I’m looking forward to visiting other cities in the UK though!
