My Favourite Music For Writing

On Sunday #nzbloggers hosted a bloggers chat about our favourite music and whether we write when listening to music.  I hate silence and I love listening to music as I write and as I drive etc. So, I thought I’d do a post on my favourite music for writing.

When I blog I love having music playing in the background.

Here is a list of my favourite songs for blogging.

  1. Any song by Gin Wigmore.

Ok, so I know I said that I would specify songs, but seriously, how can I choose just ONE song by Gin Wigmore that I listen to when writing.

She has a beautiful voice, excellent songs and I think that she is definitely one of my favourite singers of this era.

Here is an example:

2.  Blackbird by The Beatles.

The Beatles were a top band.  I think that they would be a band I’d go back in time to see.

I listen to this song when I am going to write about something sad.

3.  We Are The Champions by Queen.

I know the words to most of Queens songs.  This is no exception.  This is my “I’m feeling proud and I have so much inspiration to write!” song.

4.  Bei Mir Bist Du Schon by the Swing Dance Orchestra.

It is such a fun song – I do love the Andrews Sister’s version – but this one is so cool.  I always find myself dancing along in my head with it.  I find music like this really gets my brain working.

-sorry, can’t find them on youtube  but they are on spotify.

5.  Paris by Yael Naim.

This is in French and I don’t understand a word of it but I just love the song.  It sounds beautiful.  French always sounds nice.

6.  La liste by Rose.

This is another French singer.  Once again I don’t fully understand what the song is about.

What about you? Do you have any songs that you love listening to when you are writing or are you a write in silence person?
