There are a few people on here following me now and I thought that I should really tell you about who I really am.
Who is the girl in the photos? Why on earth is she writing a blog about fashion?
If you have read the about me, you probably know that I am a teacher. I teach 6 year olds. Sometimes I think that I don’t want to be a teacher forever. Which is really sad because teaching is the most important job in the world.
Teaching has really opened my eyes and helped me to see the difficulties that kids go through, either in their home lives or with learning. Being a teacher is a precious thing. You are holding a child’s future in your hands and it is up to you to ignite the love of learning within each and every child. You are holding their future in your hands because you want to be the teacher that encourages them to go far and to never give up. They need to see that you believe in them and that they can do what ever they want in life. Children are fragile – they do fall easily (in terms of emotions and belief in themselves) and though some may appear tough, a lot of them really are breakable.
Some days are tough. There are days where I feel like quitting, but then I think of the kids and the differences I am making in their lives. I would miss them so much. There are days where I feel like crying, because some of the stuff these kids put up with is terrible. No child should have to go through such pain.
Now, as to why I write about fashion, food, vintage and travel.
It’s a passion. It’s something I have loved for a long time. Writing has always been something I have loved. When I was young I kept many diaries. It was a way to get my thoughts down without me exploding. I think I’m the type of person who keeps my emotions bottled up and I only show what I’m truly feeling when I’ve had enough.
I kept a poem journal and wrote some pretty weird stuff in there when I was a teenager.
Recently I wrote a story in prose (that I may or may not publish one day). It was based on medieval times. Pretty weird stuff.
Fashion is an amazing thing. I love seeing how much fashion has changed since the 1910s. The changes in fashion have shown the changes in what is socially acceptable. There are more choices and there is more freedom in what people can do.
I believe that people like Coco Chanel, Katharine Hepburn and Audrey Hepburn (the list of people can go on and on and on) really opened the world up and allowed people to see that different is ok. Not everyone has to be the same looking or have the same personality. It is beautiful to be who you are! It took me a long time to realise that you don’t have to be the same as everyone else to be cool. And when I realised that, I threw away all my cares about what people think about me. I don’t care if I dress differently, or if I get inspiration from years gone by. Some people think that is strange, but I don’t care. I am a cool person in my own individual way.
Ok, rant over.
I think the reason why I love to blog is because I get so many thoughts in my head. Whether it be about fashion (style, inspiration and also mini biographies about designers etc), food, travel (which isn’t often) and vintage.
I love thinking of stories. I love imagining – ‘what if…?’
I also love memes (honestly, who doesn’t?).
Who am I?
A weird fashion lover.
P.S. I take ownership of calling myself weird – because weird is cool.
