Fashion Files: Louise Brooks

I never really thought of Louise Brooks as being a ‘fashionista’.  I love her movies and I think she was so talented.

I never knew that after she left Hollywood in 1938, she became an author (in the 1950s, 60s and 70s).

Louise was originally a dancer, however she was forced to leave (aka fired) from her dance company in LA because she was too outspoken and independent.  She then worked on Broadway which is where she was discovered.

Some notable films:

-Pandora’s Box (1929)

and Diary of a Lost Girl (1929).

Louise Brooks liked to wear expensive fabrics.  She wore evenings gowns, fur coats, velvet jackets etc.

But she did so in a way that was classy and never over the top.

Everyone knows the 1920s.  Typical bob cut, shorter hemlines, cloche hats.

She had all of these down to a fine art.

Clothes and hair envy.  Oh, how I wish my hair would grow out quickly.  Dying to try this bob style while my hair is growing out!
